Our History
PilieroMazza opened its doors in the early 1980s under the leadership of Daniel J. Piliero II. Dan had experience with corporate and trade association law, as well as litigation. When he started the Firm, Dan recruited a team of smart, energetic, hard-working attorneys committed to providing legal counsel with a high level of personal service. That commitment continues to this day and is an integral part of who we are.
In the early years of the Firm, the practice quickly expanded into government relations and government contracting. Unfortunately, in the midst of the Firm’s growth, Dan unexpectedly passed away. At this critical crossroad, his junior partner and several of the young attorneys renewed their commitment to the Firm and redoubled their efforts to carry the practice forward–gaining invaluable perspectives on the demands of leading a business that serves us well when imparting guidance to our clients. This group of attorneys is the heart of PilieroMazza today.
The Firm continues to grow and is recognized for its strong capabilities in the Small Business Administration’s procurement programs. This strength is truly unique in the field and has become a key component of who we are, in addition to the core legal services we offer in corporate, labor and employment, and litigation.
