Bio
Akinyi brings to PilieroMazza over a decade of litigation experience across a wide array of complex litigation matters, including contract disputes, employment litigation, protection of trade secrets, restrictive covenant litigation, business governance disputes, and white-collar civil investigations and litigation. Clients rely on her ability to provide clear, practical legal solutions to complex problems, as well as her insights on effective case strategies that focus on obtaining the best possible outcomes in an efficient manner.
Akinyi began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Lon E. Farris, Chief Judge of the Prince William County Circuit Court, Virginia. She earned her law degree at the College of William and Mary School of Law, serving as Notes Editor for the William and Mary Journal of Women and the Law, in which her work was also published. During law school, Akinyi interned at a leading law firm in Nairobi, Kenya, that represents international clients engaged in business and investment in Africa. As a practicing attorney, Akinyi served as a litigator at several regional law firms in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, where she represented corporate clients at every stage in the litigation life cycle.
Prior to immigrating to the United States, Akinyi lived and traveled extensively throughout Africa. Given her international background, Akinyi is accustomed to navigating unique issues that might come with cross-border disputes.
